We were delighted to be hosted once again this year by the University of East London (UEL) for what was another incredibly inspiring and impactful experience for our current Year 10 pupils. This year’s trip continued to broaden horizons and raise aspirations, giving pupils a real sense of what university life could look like for them.
Our pupils enjoyed an engaging tour of the university, exploring key facilities such as the SportsDock, library, lecture halls, and vibrant social spaces. They also learned about the wide range of courses available at UEL, helping them to imagine themselves as future university students. Throughout the tour, our pupils asked thoughtful and insightful questions, eager to better understand how university could be the right fit for them and how it could support their future aspirations.
A standout moment of the day was the energising and motivational workshop delivered by The Challenger from Fix Up. The session focused on staying motivated and developing a growth mindset. Pupils were encouraged to overcome self-doubt, challenge limiting beliefs, and adopt a positive, forward-thinking approach to learning and personal growth.
The trip had a powerful impact with one pupil saying: “hearing about the growth mindset really changed the way I think.” Another commented: “the trip was very inspiring – my favourite part was playing basketball in their SportsDock.”
We are once again hugely grateful to our hosts Charlotte, Ellie, Tariq, and the entire UEL team for welcoming us so warmly and providing such an enriching experience. Their continued support is instrumental in helping our pupils realise that higher education is not only within reach but can also be an exciting and realistic next step in achieving their goals.
