Enrichment
At New Rush Hall School (NRHS), our Enrichment Curriculum provides pupils with opportunities to learn and develop beyond traditional academic subjects. Enrichment forms an important part of our wider curriculum and provides structured opportunities for pupils to explore interests, develop new skills and experience success in different areas of school life.
The programme is designed particularly with the social, emotional and personal development of our pupils in mind. Through a broad range of practical, creative, physical and interest-based activities, pupils have opportunities to develop confidence, communication, independence, teamwork and positive relationships with both peers and adults.
Enrichment also provides pupils with opportunities to discover strengths and interests that may not always emerge within traditional classroom learning. Trying something new, persevering when an activity is challenging and experiencing success can help pupils develop a more positive view of themselves as learners and build the confidence to approach new experiences.
All activities within our Enrichment Curriculum are carefully considered and support our school values of courage, determination, equality, friendship, inspiration, perseverance, resilience and respect.
Our enrichment offer is reviewed each year and adapted to reflect the needs and interests of our pupils. Activities also provide opportunities to support individual EHCP outcomes and wider personal development priorities, ensuring that enrichment is purposeful as well as enjoyable.
The Enrichment Curriculum looks different across our Primary and Secondary phases, reflecting pupils’ age, stage of development and individual needs.
