Safeguarding

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and is at the heart of everything we do at New Rush Hall School. The safety, welfare and wellbeing of our pupils is our highest priority, and we are committed to providing an environment in which every young person feels safe, heard, valued and supported.

We recognise that effective safeguarding is about more than responding when a concern arises. It is about knowing our pupils well, building trusted relationships, identifying concerns early and working together with families and other professionals to provide the right support.

All staff receive regular safeguarding and child protection training and understand their responsibility to recognise, report and respond to concerns. We maintain robust safer recruitment procedures and ensure that the appropriate statutory checks are completed for adults working within our school.

Safeguarding is also embedded throughout our curriculum and wider personal development programme. Pupils are taught how to recognise and manage risk, build healthy relationships, seek help when they need it and keep themselves and others safe. This includes learning about online safety and the risks pupils may encounter both within and beyond school.

We want pupils to feel confident that there is always an adult at NRHS they can speak to if they are worried about themselves or someone else, and that when they speak, they will be listened to and taken seriously.
