U14’s shine at football tournament

New Rush Hall School’s Key Stage 3 football team recently took part in the Under 14s football tournament, with a squad made up of pupils from Years 8 and 9. From the first whistle there was a real sense of excitement, with pupils proud to pull on the school kit and represent New Rush Hall.

The team made a fantastic start with a 4–0 victory and continued to impress throughout the tournament. Across the day they produced a brilliant run of results, remaining unbeaten while scoring plenty of goals and keeping several clean sheets along the way.

What stood out most was the way pupils played together. Despite being a mixture of Year 8 and Year 9, they quickly came together as a team and supported one another throughout every match. Pupils showed leadership, resilience and determination while also clearly enjoying the opportunity to compete together.

There were plenty of celebrations as the goals went in, but pupils also showed maturity during the more closely contested matches. Two draws tested the team in a different way and gave them the opportunity to stay focused, work together and keep pushing for a result.

The team saved another excellent performance for their final match, finishing the tournament with a convincing 5–0 victory. By the end of the day New Rush Hall remained undefeated, which was a fantastic achievement for the whole squad.

More importantly, pupils thoroughly enjoyed representing their school and took real pride in doing so. Their enthusiasm, teamwork and support for one another were brilliant to see throughout the tournament.

One pupil summed up the experience by saying, “It was a really good day. We played well together, we didn’t lose a game and when we weren’t playing at our best we encouraged each other.”

It was a fantastic day for New Rush Hall football and one the pupils can be extremely proud of. Well done to everyone involved!
