Making plans for the future – visit LBBD college

A group of Year 9 pupils recently enjoyed an informative careers visit to Barking & Dagenham College. The trip provided pupils with a valuable insight into college life and the wide range of courses and opportunities available to them after leaving school.

During the visit, pupils were given a guided tour of the college campus, allowing them to experience first-hand what studying at college is like. They explored a variety of learning environments and gained a better understanding of the facilities available to pupils.

One of the highlights of the day was visiting the Motor Mechanics department. Here, pupils had the opportunity to speak with the Head of Motor Mechanics who explained the different aspects of the course and demonstrated the practical skills that pupils develop while studying in the department. This gave our pupils a real insight into the automotive industry and the pathways that can follow from studying motor mechanics.

Throughout the day, pupils also visited a number of other departments including Filming, Painting and Decorating, Construction, Music and Production and the Games Design suites. Each area showcased the exciting opportunities available to young people, and helped pupils to discover new career pathways that they may not have previously considered.

The visit encouraged pupils to think about their future aspirations and the different routes available to them after secondary education. Many pupils left feeling inspired and motivated by the range of courses and career options on offer.

One pupil said, “This has changed my decision on whether I will attend college once I leave New Rush Hall.”

We would like to thank Barking & Dagenham College for welcoming our pupils and providing such an engaging and informative experience. Visits such as these play an important role in helping our pupils make informed decisions about their future education and careers.
