Year 7 pupils enjoyed an exciting and educational visit to the Bank of England Museum. During the trip, pupils took part in an engaging workshop and a range of fun, hands-on activities.
One of the highlights of the day was the chance to lift a real gold bar, which all the pupils really enjoyed. They were also given the opportunity to count real money, adding up to a total of over £2000. Pupils also took part in a range of interactive activities, such as cracking a code to open a small box and completing money themed jigsaw puzzles, which made learning both enjoyable and memorable.
Throughout the visit, pupils learned about the history of Bank of England, how much gold is stored there, and the important role the bank plays in the UK economy. They also learned new mathematical terms, such as ‘interest’, which link to percentages they will be studying in maths lessons and pupils are looking forward to applying this knowledge in the classroom.
Overall, the visit was a fun and informative experience that helped pupils connect classroom learning with real life application.
One pupil said: “Oh my God, it’s a real gold bar!” and, after trying to lift it said ” It was really heavy”.
