The Dead Hang Challenge was introduced to NRHS October 2025 as an incentive to encourage the engagement of all pupils to use fitness suite.
The challenge itself was to see which pupil could hang on the pull up bars the longest. Pupils of the same age competed against each other – Primary, Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
First, second and third prizes of commendations and points where given to those who could hang for the longest. A pupil in Key Stage 3 managed to hand onto the pull up bars for an amazing 5mins 8 seconds.
This challenge encouraged pupils, who wouldn’t necessarily participate or use the gym to do so, helped to build their confidence within a gym and will hopefully support and encourage the foundations of a healthy relationship with health and fitness from a young age.
Every month a new challenge will be introduced to keep engagement and motivation high.
