Staff at New Rush Hall School were recently given a very special surprise when three former pupils returned to visit. Having left the school a few years ago, the visit was completely unexpected, as they simply wanted to come back and say hello and share how they were getting on.
It was fantastic to hear that all three pupils are doing well. One pupil spoke about preparing to finish his A levels, with exams coming up in the next few weeks, which was a proud moment for both him and the staff who had supported him during his time at the school. With another pupil sharing how he is honing his musical talent and performing in a band.
After greeting staff in reception, the pupils were invited to join the end of day briefing where they had the opportunity to speak to the wider staff team. What followed was an impromptu and heartfelt moment, as the pupils chose to stand up and share their experiences.
One pupil thanked staff for the support he received and spoke about how well he is now doing. Another pupil reflected honestly on his time at school, saying he did not know how staff managed to support him but that he was incredibly grateful they did. He shared that he would not be where he is today without the patience and dedication shown by staff during his time at New Rush Hall.
The room responded with a round of applause, and it was clear how much the visit meant to everyone present. For staff, it was a powerful reminder of the long-lasting impact they have on pupils, often well beyond the years they spend in school.
It was a proud and uplifting moment for the whole school community and a wonderful way to celebrate the success of former pupils.
