A group of pupils from 7.1 recently enjoyed an exciting trip to London as part of New Rush Hall School’s Cultural Capital programme. The visit gave pupils the chance to experience one of the capital’s most famous landmarks while building confidence and broadening their understanding of the world beyond the classroom.
The day began with a hearty breakfast at a popular restaurant which certainly made an impression. Pupils were amazed by the portion sizes with plates described as being “bigger than their heads.” One pupil said: ‘It was one of the best breakfasts I’ve ever had,’ which set the tone perfectly for the rest of the trip.
After breakfast the group made their way to the London Eye which was the main highlight of the day. As the capsule slowly rose above the city pupils were able to take in breathtaking views across London and spot many of its most famous landmarks. Pupils looked out for Big Ben Buckingham Palace Wembley Stadium and the River Thames while enjoying a completely different view of the city from high above the ground. The 25-minute journey gave pupils time to take in the sights, talk together and reflect on just how much there is to see in London.
For some pupils the ride brought a mixture of excitement and nerves which made the experience even more memorable. Another pupil said: ‘It was scary believe it or not,’ showing that the trip gave pupils the chance to step slightly outside their comfort zones.
Overall, the trip was a brilliant success and gave pupils the chance to enjoy great food, incredible views and a memorable day in the heart of London.
