So far this year, pupils in Year 10 have taken part in a wide range of enrichment activities designed to build confidence, teamwork and new life experiences. The programme has offered something for everyone and has given pupils the chance to try activities they may never have considered before.
Throughout the year, pupils have taken part in paddle sessions, bouldering, football tournaments, work experience placements, cricket and assault courses. Each activity has helped pupils develop different skills while also encouraging them to step outside of their comfort zones and try something new.
One of the most rewarding activities has been skiing. For some pupils, this was something they never thought they would do. One pupil said: ‘This is definitely the best activity that I have tried so far. I didn’t think it was for me, but now I’ve tried it, it’s definitely I want to try again.’
Seeing pupils grow in confidence through experiences like this has been a real highlight of the programme. Our enrichment programme has also provided valuable opportunities for pupils to develop teamwork skills. During paddle sessions, pupils worked individually and in pairs, learning to support one another and build trust. This then transferred into team activities such as football tournaments, where pupils came together to represent New Rush Hall with pride. It has been especially rewarding to see pupils. who may not usually work well together. collaborate successfully as a team.
Our pupils have engaged brilliantly with the enrichment offer and continue to show enthusiasm for the wide range of opportunities available to them. With more activities still to come, enrichment remains a key part of helping pupils build confidence, resilience and positive memories during their time at New Rush Hall School.
