New Rush Hall School celebrated Pride Month with a colourful and welcoming Pride Tent. This year’s message, “All Are Welcome”, reflected our commitment to ensuring that every member of our community feels valued and respected. No matter who you are, where you come from, what you believe, or who you love, everyone has a place at New Rush Hall.
Throughout the week, pupils from both Primary and Secondary were invited to visit the Pride Tent during break and lunchtime. The atmosphere was full of fun, music, and positivity, with pupils enjoying karaoke sessions, choosing their favourite songs, and making memories together. Tables were filled with bright hats, glasses, and colourful accessories, with the novelty glasses proving particularly popular. After all, who doesn’t enjoy a chance to dress up and have fun?
As part of the celebrations, pupils explored how they can help make everyone who visits our school feel welcome. Pupils wrote messages of kindness and encouragement on colourful feathers, which have been brought together to create a display celebrating inclusion, friendship, and belonging.
During Form Time, pupils of all ages took part in age-appropriate discussions about the LGBTQ+ community. These sessions provided a safe and respectful environment where pupils could ask questions, challenge stereotypes, and develop their understanding of diversity. By encouraging open conversations, pupils were able to learn from one another and build greater empathy and respect for others.
One of the most rewarding aspects of the week was seeing the confidence of many pupils grow. Some pupils who were initially hesitant to visit the Pride Tent, concerned about how they might be perceived, gradually felt comfortable joining in and becoming part of the celebrations. Through positive experiences and a supportive community, pupils developed a greater understanding of the importance of making everyone feel included and accepted.
Pride Week reflected the values that are at the heart of New Rush Hall. Through friendship, respect, equality, courage, resilience, and inspiration, our pupils demonstrated that kindness and understanding can bring people together. It was a wonderful reminder of our school ethos: where doors are opened, resilience is built, and attitudes and lives are transformed.
