Mountfitchet Castle trip

Year 7 visited Mountfitchet Castle on a cross-curricular trip organised by the Geography and History team.  The pupils learnt about life in a Norman castle, ranging from religion and power, crime and punishment to everyday life.

The trip was a great success.  The castle itself had lots of interactive activities such as picking up the weapons and trying on the armour.  They also enjoyed the company of the animals, particularly the deer and goats.

Pupils commented:
“It was very good, because we could see how Norman people lived and we learnt lots of things.”

“It was fun. I learn some stuff about the Normans such as they took a bath only once a month.”

“It was really good. It was very interactive and we saw lots of animals.”
