Mental Health Week at New Rush Hall was a huge success, bringing pupils together through creativity, connection and celebration. The highlight of the week was undoubtedly the Brighter Days Festival, where pupils from across all year groups took to the stage to perform an incredible range of musical pieces. From well-loved covers to impressive original songs, our pupils showcased not only their talent, but also the power of positive and uplifting messages through music.
The performances were made even more memorable by the fantastic costumes on display. From Scooby-Doo characters to astronauts and space-themed outfits, the festival was filled with imagination, humour and confidence. Most importantly, the supportive atmosphere created by the audience reflected the values we are proud to promote at New Rush Hall — friendship, respect, equality, courage, determination, perseverance, resilience, and inspiration. Pupils encouraged one another throughout the event, showing maturity, kindness and genuine appreciation for each other’s efforts.
Throughout the week, pupils also took part in a collaborative display project using puzzle pieces to celebrate individuality and belonging. Each pupil decorated a piece with personal interests, favourite foods, hobbies, costumes and activities that make them unique. The activity sparked meaningful conversations between pupils, with discussions about favourite football teams, after-school clubs, family traditions and weekend activities.
By giving pupils the time and space to share parts of themselves with others, the project helped pupils recognise both their differences and the many things they have in common. It encouraged new friendships, strengthened existing connections, and reminded everyone that feeling welcomed, understood, and valued is an important part of positive mental health.
Thank you to everyone who took part in the week, but especially a big thank you to the brighter days staff and performers, for giving everyone a reason to smile.
