Year 10 pupils from New Rush Hall School recently visited University of East London for an exciting and informative trip to experience what life at university is like. The visit gave pupils a valuable insight into higher education and helped them to start thinking about their future pathways.
During the day, pupils were taken on a guided tour around the campus where they were able to explore the different facilities and learning spaces. This helped them to get a real feel for university life and understand what studying at a university could be like on a day-to-day basis.
The group also took part in a university quiz which was both fun and educational. It allowed pupils to learn more about university life in general as well as specific information about UEL. The quiz encouraged teamwork and helped build confidence as pupils shared their ideas and knowledge.
One of the highlights of the trip was the interactive session led by the university tour guides. They spoke openly about their own experiences and gave pupils a clear picture of what to expect at university. They discussed pupil life and independence and the wide range of courses available. This gave our pupils a better understanding of the opportunities that university can offer.
While exploring the campus, the group also enjoyed a walk along the river where they had the chance to watch planes taking off from London City Airport. This was a memorable moment for many pupils and added an extra level of excitement to the day.
Overall, the trip was a great success. It gave our pupils a meaningful insight into university life and helped to inspire them to think about their future goals and ambitions.
One pupil said: ‘During our careers lessons we have been talking a lot about our future career pathways once we leave NRHS. I have been thinking about apprenticeships, but this visit has started to make me think about possibly studying a course at a university.’
