To support their learning about Hinduism, Amethyst Class visited a local Hindu Temple. In class pupils have been learning about the core beliefs of Hinduism, the trip to the temple brought their learning to life.
When they arrived, they were amazed by the beautifully decorated entrance with one pupil saying, “the outside is so cool because there are so many different Gods”. All pupils remembered that they needed to take off their shoes before entering the Mandir as a sign of respect and to keep the area clean.
Once inside they were able to explore all the different shrines and recognised recognise several Hindu Gods and Goddesses they had spoken about during their lessons. One pupil said, “it was so cool because there were so many shrines to different Gods”.
During the visit, pupils were able to watch a puja ceremony take place and see first-hand the items used during worship. They were able to recall which of the five senses each item represented and the importance of each of the items.
All the pupils were very respectful during our visit and asked lots of questions to develop their knowledge of Hinduism further.
