To support their learning about WWII and The Blitz, Sapphire Class visited Duxford War Museum. The pupils explored a large hangar which housed a variety of aircraft from before the war to modern times. They were very observant and noticed how the aircraft had evolved over the years.
The pupils had the opportunity to explore an exhibition focused on WWII and they saw examples of different shelters and bunkers as well as planes and ammunition. The boys were respectful of the exhibition and followed instructions to not touch the aircraft. They also had the opportunity to explore aircraft reflecting their own interests. They listened to a talk about Concord and its special features and got the chance to go into the cockpit and sit in seats from different periods of History.
One of the pupils said: “I love looking at all these planes, it was great to be able to explore them and sit in the cockpit.”
It was great opportunity to be able to take the pupils to the museum to help bring their learning to life as well as being able to allow the pupils to be able to take responsibility for their actions in an unfamiliar environment. They were a credit to the school.
