We were delighted to welcome Wes Streeting MP, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care and Member of Parliament for Ilford North, back to New Rush Hall School. His visit highlighted the importance of early intervention and mental health support for young people with SEMH needs, such as those we support every day.
Wes toured our new facilities, including the boxing and gym spaces, music studio and therapeutic suite. These specialist areas are designed to promote pupils’ mental health and wellbeing, enabling them to become emotionally available to access learning. Our in-house team of counsellors and mentors, based in the therapeutic suite, continues to make a life-changing difference for so many of our pupils.
We also shared with Wes the pressing need for additional SEMH places in Redbridge and outlined our proposed expansion plans for New Rush Hall School to meet the needs of some of the borough’s most vulnerable young people. It was a pleasure to host him once again and to have his continued support for our school. His recognition of the vital work we do, and his backing for the expansion of New Rush Hall School, means a great deal to the whole school community.
