Pride Week at New Rush Hall School was a vibrant and meaningful celebration filled with learning, creativity and community spirit. Throughout the week, pupils across the school took part in a variety of activities aimed at educating and raising awareness about the LGBTQ+ community.
One of the main highlights was a series of presentations delivered to all year groups, providing important insights into LGBTQ+ history, rights and the importance of inclusivity. These presentations sparked thoughtful discussions and reflection during PSHE lessons, where pupils had the opportunity to explore themes of identity, respect and diversity in a safe and supportive environment.
As part of the celebration, pupils’ work was proudly showcased on a dedicated Pride Wall display, featuring posters, reflections and art. The Pride Wall also includes a colourful collection of friendship flags and kind messages created by children from across the school. This display not only celebrates the values of Pride Week but also offers a lasting space where positive messages and supportive artwork can inspire ongoing discussions about inclusion and kindness throughout the year.
Our NRHS podcast also joined in the celebration, featuring special episodes where pupils discussed what Pride means to them and the importance of allyship. It was fantastic to hear young voices sharing their perspectives and showing such empathy and understanding.
Meanwhile, in Lower Primary, pupils expressed their support and friendship through a creative activity using colourful friendship flags. These beautiful pieces of art were proudly displayed around the school, adding to the festive atmosphere.
To round off the week, the whole school enjoyed a special dessert rainbow cake. It was a sweet treat that perfectly symbolised the joy and unity of the occasion.
Pride Week was more than just a celebration. It was a powerful reminder of our school’s commitment to inclusion, respect and celebrating everyone for who they are.
