Year 7 pupils visited the Twist Optical Illusion Museum on Oxford Street, London. The museum, known for its fascinating displays that challenge how we see the world, the trip was a day full of exciting and mind-bending experiences.
Pupils enjoyed a variety of interactive exhibits that played with perception. Highlights included kaleidoscope mirrors, which created vibrant, symmetrical reflections and a room where the pupils appeared to change size as they walked toward the corner. Other exhibits played with colour, creating illusions that shifted depending on where you stood, while classic optical illusions in frames tested their understanding of visual tricks.
The museum allowed the pupils to experience the science behind how our brains process visual information, all while having fun with the quirky, playful displays. It was a great opportunity for them to explore the intersection of art, science, and perception in an engaging and hands-on way.
The day was filled with laughter, excitement, and plenty of photo opportunities. Everyone left with a new appreciation for optical illusions, making it a memorable and educational trip for the Year 7 class.
One pupil said; ‘It was a really interesting and fun trip, we didn’t all see things the same way, which made me realise that we all see things differently’.
