As part of the Year 11 Food Tech curriculum, pupils nearing the end of their GCSE/BTEC course were given the opportunity to experience fine dining at Ting restaurant which is located in The Shard. Ting is known for its vibrant Asian fusion cuisine.
Before heading to The Shard, we explored Spitalfields Market near Liverpool Street. While we initially planned to just look around, the tempting aroma of freshly made doughnuts made it hard to resist. Thankfully, the walk to The Shard helped balance out our indulgence!
Upon arrival, we noticed that the service was slower than that we’re used to in the school canteen, but it was exceptionally attentive. With breath taking views across London, time seemed to fly by. A single sip of sparkling water was all it took for our glasses to be topped up instantly.
The food was served in the centre of the table for sharing. At first glance, it didn’t seem like much, but the rich, bold flavours quickly satisfied everyone. That said, there was still room for dessert—profiteroles that looked just a little better than the ones we made at school!
Both the food and behaviour were top-notch, making it a memorable experience for all.
One pupil said; ‘Sitting eating amazing food with a view overlooking London was an experience which I won’t forget. It was the first time I have ever been to a restaurant in Central London and I definitely want to go back.’
