Ruby class visited Hainault Fire Station where they were greeted by the White Watch Firefighters. The pupils were excited to learn all about the role of a Firefighter, the process of becoming a Firefighter, and fire safety but most of all they were excited about being able to go inside the fire engine.
White Watch had arranged to take the pupils on a short ride in the fire engine, sit in the driver’s seat and try on the helmets. After this, they took turns knocking over cones with the water hose and aiming the water at the tall tower.
The pupils asked very interesting questions and listened carefully to the answers given by the firefighters. Once we returned to school, one pupil said: ‘I liked aiming with the hose and knocking over the cones.” Another said: ‘It was amazing! I liked sitting being in the fire engine and sitting in the driver’s seat.’
