Year 9 pupils attended an engaging Careers talk at MyPlace Community Youth Centre in Romford. The talk was designed to equip pupils with essential life skills for the future.
The session focused on improving communication, particularly in interviews. Pupils were taught how to present clearly and concisely. The workshop also focused on skills which will help them in job interviews, application forms and when applying for university places in the future.
Pupils also learnt tips for answering questions confidently, the importance of body language and how to make a strong first impression.
After the talk, pupils had the chance to unwind and socialise with their peers by taking part in some fun activities. There was a lively atmosphere as they played games like table tennis, pool, and football. The mix of learning and leisure provided a perfect balance, giving the pupils valuable skills as well as a great time to relax.
Feedback and insight from pupils suggested the whole experience was very enjoyable. Pupils were challenged, and encouraged to participate in the workshop, giving them a head start in preparing for their future careers.
One pupil said: “It seems too early to start thinking about what I want to do when I leave school but this trip has shown me that it’s not too soon as there is so much to think about. Plus, it has helped me think about the subjects I want to study for my GCSEs in Y10.’
