Sapphire class visited Old MacDonald’s Farm to support their learning in Geography. In their Geography lessons, pupils have been learning about different types of farming, including arable, pastoral and mixed. They have explored why some land is suitable for farming and why some is not. Pupils have also been learning about the roles and responsibilities of farmers when managing different types of farm land.
Pupils enjoyed exploring the variety of animals that they saw at the farm. These included small animals such as guinea pigs and rabbits as well as larger animals like donkeys, goats and sheep.
We talked about the farm being a ‘tourist’ farm and how money from visitors would contribute to the cost of caring for the animals as well as generating a profit.
The pupils also enjoyed the other attractions there such as fun fair rides and it was a great opportunity for the boys to bond and play together outside of the school environment.
One pupil said: ‘I really enjoyed holding the guinea pigs and seeing the other animals but I enjoyed going on the rides at the fun fair more.’
