Monday 11th November 2024 marked the beginning of Anti-Bullying Week. This year’s theme was ‘Choose Respect’.
The Anti-Bullying Week 2024 call to action this year is:
‘From playgrounds to parliament, our homes to our phones, this Anti-Bullying Week let’s ‘Choose Respect’ and bring an end to bullying which negatively impacts millions of young lives.
This year, we’ll empower children and young people to not resort to bullying even when we disagree, and remind adults to lead by example, online and offline.
Imagine a world where respect and kindness thrives — it’s not just a dream, it’s in the choices we make. Join us this Anti-Bullying Week and commit to ‘Choose Respect’. What will you choose?’
Within school, this week has been an important opportunity to teach children about ‘Anti-Bullying’. In registration and in PSHE lessons staff have been addressing bullying; to recognise when it is happening and how to report it. All classes have had lots of productive conversations. As a sign of solidarity, some staff and pupils have been wearing their ‘Choose Respect’ wristbands.
This year NRHS have chosen to respond to the call to action by demonstrating ‘Acts of Kindness’. All the pupils were given NRHS Kindness Cards at the beginning of the week in registration and discussed examples of kindness towards each other and themselves. For each act of kindness pupils were awarded a sticker. The whole school has been buzzing with pupils making an utmost effort to better themselves, make better choices and bring about positive feelings. As a reward for their hard work and perseverance, pupils were awarded commendations. To celebrate their successes further, the pupils were treated to specially designed cupcakes. This was NRHS’s way of demonstrating kindness to all pupils in return for all their hard work this week.
