Year 7 pupils enjoyed an engaging and interactive workshop, from the TfL STARS (Sustainable Travel, Active, Responsible & Safe) this week. This was an informative session about planning travel, conduct and keeping safe when on public transport. Pupils also learned about the environmental impact of the way they choose to travel.
The STARS facilitator, also reminded children about the benefits of applying for their Zip card (available 1 month before their 11th birthday): 11-15 Zip Oyster photocards – Transport for London (tfl.gov.uk). Pupils engaged well with discussion around the responsibilities of having their own Zip card.
The pupils particularly enjoyed the interactive scenario-based task, where they had to decide if they needed to press the ‘information’ or the ‘help’ button on the Tube platform.
Year 7 are now informed and equipped with skills for walking or using public transport safely.
