Year 7 and 8 Visit the Moonwalkers Exhibition

Today Year 7 and  Year 8 visited ‘The Moonwalkers Exhibition’; which was narrated by Tom Hanks. The pupils travelled by public transport and arrived at the Lightroom in anticipation. It was an epic experience that gave the pupils a unique perspective on humankind’s past and future voyages to the moon. The Lightroom’s powerful projection and audio technology transformed the immense exhibit space into a spectacular immersive voyage to the closest celestial neighbour, the Moon. The narration included the stories of the Apollo missions in detail and provided an insight into the impeding return of the Artemis Programme including interviews with Tom Hanks and Artemis astronauts.

We watched the original NASA footage and breath taking images from Apollo’s voyage to the lunar surface during a 50 minute experience. The twelve astronauts, including Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, who have set foot on the MoonThe original photographs taken by them have been digitally remastered using modern day technology. These remastered images from every missionrevealed details that has been lost for half a century.

All pupils and staff were wowed by humankind’s adventures to the lunar Moon.  One pupil was so inspired by the exhibition that they said they want to be an astronaut.
