Delightful Devon

To help promote social mobility, pupils in Year 10 were taken to Devon for a few days to experience life outside of London. We were hosted by Heather at Deer’s Leap Retreat, a lovely scenic venue where we were given the opportunity to stay outside in Glamping tents. We were surrounded by livestock, often awoken by the Cockerel in the morning!

On the first night, a few of the pupils used their culinary skills to prepare and cook for everyone and we all were very grateful. On day two, pupils took a trip to a Devon beach to learn how to surf. Many pupils were very surprised to find that there were such beautiful sandy beaches in the UK.

On our final day, pupils took part in clay pigeon shooting before being treated to Heather’s freshly baked Devonshire scones. Everyone who took part in the trip was really grateful to Heather and her family for taking us in and looking after us so well.
