Chag Sameach

As part of NRHS’s commemoration of the Sukkot celebration, Y11 pupils visited a Cranbrook United Synagogue in Ilford.

Our pupils learned about some of the most important traditions of Judaism and saw some of the impressive Torahs kept in the synagogue.

They spent some time at the beautifully decorated Sukkah. This is a hut constructed for use during this week-long Jewish festival, commemorating the time God provided shelter for the Israelites after they were freed from slavery in Egypt. Today, the Sukkah is a reminder that only God creates a sense of security and protection.

After this visit, the Year 11’s enjoyed an international buffet at Jimmy’s World Grill & Bar, where they had the chance to try food from all around the world.
