Trip to The Cenotaph

As part of the School’s Commendation Award programme, pupils can exchange commendations received for trips.

With a keen interest on the military and the voluntary work they do with Army Veterans, one of our Year 11 pupils chose to cash in their commendations to visit The Cenotaph ahead of Remembrance Sunday.

After visiting the Cenotaph, they went to Westminster Abbey where they laid a wreath of poppies which they had made.

Walking down Whitehall they passed Downing Street on their way to The London Eye and then headed to Borough Market for some street food.

They bought some enamel poppies, enough for each pupil in Year 7, which they gave to the pupils when they returned to school.

The pupil said: “This is one of the best trips they had been on with the school as they went to all the places they really wanted to see and it was important for them to pay their respects to all Army Veterans, especially as it was so close the Remembrance Sunday.”
