Fungi hunt in Hainault Forest

As part of Horticulture and Science lessons about living things, Sapphire class visited Hainault Forest for a Fungi Hunt.

The Class took some spotter sheets and wrapped up warm for an afternoon in the forest. It was a cold, frosty but sunny day and the pupils found a good selection of fungi.

The children really enjoyed the winter walk, they were really enthusiastic about finding lots of wood carvings which were dotted around the forest, these acted like markers and signposts to guide the pupils back through the forest.

They really enjoyed the fungi and got really excited to let all the other pupils know when somebody had found something. The pupils were very competitive but it was all very good-natured.

Everyone had a great time.
